This Privacy Policy explains how Football Guessing ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Football Guessing iOS application — a daily puzzle game in which you guess a mystery footballer from attribute clues.

The short version. Football Guessing has no account and doesn't ask for your real name. Your stats, streak, history and settings are stored on your device. If you tap for an AI hint, the puzzle's factual clue context (never your identity) is sent to our backend and AI provider to write a name-free hint. If you allow notifications, we send an optional daily reminder. We use industry-standard tools for attribution and any optional purchases; the game plays exactly the same whether or not you allow tracking.

1. Information we process

a. Game data on your device

Your statistics (games played, win rate, current and best streak, guess distribution), today's progress and your settings are stored only on your device. There is no account and we do not receive this data. Clearing your data in the app, or deleting the app, removes it.

b. AI hints (optional)

If you ask for an AI hint, the app sends the factual context of the current puzzle (such as the secret player's attributes and your guesses so far) to our backend — a Cloudflare Worker, which forwards to the AI provider xAI (maker of Grok) — to generate a short, name-free clue. We do not send your real identity, and our API keys stay on our server, never in the app. AI hints are entirely optional; the game is fully playable without ever requesting one, and bundled (offline) clues are also available.

c. Push notifications — OneSignal

If you allow notifications, we use OneSignal alongside the app's daily reminder to deliver occasional messages — for example, that today's puzzle is ready. OneSignal assigns your installation a push token and processes basic device information to deliver these messages. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings, and the game works fully without them.

d. Attribution & marketing measurement — AppsFlyer

We use AppsFlyer to understand which marketing campaign led to your install and to measure installs and sessions. AppsFlyer processes device identifiers and install/session events. If you grant tracking permission, this may include the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA).

e. Purchases — Adapty

If the app offers any optional in-app purchases, we use Adapty together with Apple to present offers and validate purchases. Adapty processes a non-identifying app instance identifier and purchase events. Payment itself is handled by Apple under your Apple ID; we never see your card details.

f. Diagnostics

We may receive aggregated, anonymised crash and performance data to keep the app stable.

2. App Tracking Transparency

iOS asks your permission before the app can track you across other apps and websites. If you deny, AppsFlyer will not use the IDFA. Football Guessing plays exactly the same either way — no feature is gated behind it. Change it any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

  • To send notifications you have opted into.
  • To measure the effectiveness of our marketing and validate purchases.
  • To keep the app secure and stable.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention

Data on your device remains until you clear it in the app or delete the app. The puzzle context sent for an AI hint is processed to produce that hint and is not used to build a profile of you. Data held by our providers follows their standard retention periods.

6. Children

Football Guessing is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Your choices

  • AI hints — simply don't request them; the game is fully playable without.
  • Notifications — turn off any time in iOS Settings.
  • Tracking — deny or revoke in iOS Settings.
  • Game data — clear your data in the app's Settings.
  • Requests — email us to ask a question or request deletion of data associated with your device.

8. Security

Requests to our backend are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we process.

9. International users

Our providers may process data on servers outside your country. By using Football Guessing you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
